Admissions FAQ

Q: When is the application deadline?

A: St. John’s provides rolling admissions, however space is limited per grade, so to ensure proper consideration applications should be received by January 1.

Q: What are the other important dates?

A: Admission decision notification is during January.  New student contracts are due March 28.  Applications received after January 1 will be accepted on a rolling admissions basis, as space is available.

Q: Can new students apply for Financial Aid?

A: Yes. St. John’s offers Financial Aid on a need basis. In order to determine the amount of need fairly, St. John’s uses School and Student Services by NAIS (SSS).  After compiling parent supplied information, SSS determines a suggested financial contribution.  The St. John’s Financial Aid Committee then reviews the SSS recommendation and aid is awarded on the basis of need, school policy, and the availability of funds. Specific financial aid funds are also designated for active St. John’s Episcopal Church members.

Q: Can I tour the school?

Q: Is before and aftercare available?

A: Yes, we have an Extended Day Program for all grades.  The program is offered Monday-Friday for Pre-kindergarten - Grade 8, 7:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

Q: How many “spots” does the school have available each year?

A: Each Preschool classroom has a total of 15 spaces available each year.  Kindergarten through 4th grade has at total of 18 spaces available each year per grade.  Grades 5-8 have a total of 36 spaces available per grade each year.  For specific grade level availability, please call the Office of Admissions at 301-774-6804 or e-mail Doug Perkins, Director of Admissions, doug.perkins@stjes.org.

Q: What percentage of students are accepted to their first-choice high school?

A: Since 2005, over 98% of our graduates have been accepted to their first-choice school.  Among those, an average of 75% receives a scholarship in areas of academics and arts, as well as merit scholarships for their work in the community. The graduating class of 2020 received over $200,000 in scholarships.
