The goal of the admission process at St. John’s is to enroll those students who are most likely to thrive in our school environment and whose families embrace the mission and values of our school. We want to ensure an excellent match between our school and the families we serve.  We try to make the application process go as smoothly and informational as possible so that you as the parent can make the very best educational decision for your child. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have along the way.

3. Schedule a Student Visitation/Shadow Day

Pre-kindergarten 3 and 4

Pre-kindergarten 3 applicants should plan to visit St. John’s, where teachers will observe and interact with the children as they play with each other and assess your child’s readiness. Parents are required to stay for this visit, which will last approximately 1 hour.

Pre-kindergarten 4 applicants are required to spend a morning in the Preschool 3 classroom during the school day on a mutually agreed-upon date prior to the last day of school. Teachers will observe and assess your child.  This visit will provide an opportunity for your child to interact with their future classmates.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten applicants will be required to spend time in our Preschool – 4 classroom during the school week. Visits may be scheduled Tuesday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Grades 1 – 8

Students applying to enter grades 1 – 8 will come to St. John’s on a full regular school day and follow a shadow guide from their current grade.  During the prospective student’s visit, the school will complete an assessment of the student’s skills and abilities.

Note: Based on the school’s assessment, additional testing may be requested.

4. Submit Teacher Recommendations

Teacher recommendation forms are required for all students who are currently enrolled in a preschool or Kindergarten – Grade 8 school. Teacher Recommendation forms are included in the Application packet online.

5. Submit School Transcripts

Transcripts are required for all students applying to Grades 1 – 8.  A Transcript Release form is available online:

6. Enrollment Decisions

Once all steps are completed, the Admissions Team will make a decision based on multiple factors, including the student’s transcripts, teacher recommendations, assessment results, school visit, and the availability of space in the grade that the student is applying.
